Biography

Lance has more than 20 years of operational experience in big pharma and the small biotech start-up space.

Prior to joining Ysios, Lance was Chief Medical Officer and Senior Vice President at Relypsa. There he was responsible for building and leading the Company’s clinical development, medical affair and drug safety functions, as well as playing a key role in the preparation and execution of the Company’s fund-raising initiatives and IPO. Under his clinical leadership, Relypsa secured FDA and EMA approval for Veltassa®. In addition to work across multiple therapeutic areas in clinical development, he worked closely with commercial teams to secure product reimbursement and to plan and execute product launches.

Lance also previously held roles as Chief Medical Office at Aelix Therapeutics; Senior Vice President, Chief Medical Officer and Head of Business Development at CPEX Pharmaceuticals; Senior Medical Director and various leadership positions at Pfizer; and Director of Clinical Research at Schering-Plough.

Lance holds Bachelor’s degrees in Medicine and Surgery from the University of Cape Town, and an MSc in Pharmaceutical Medicine from Hibernia College–Harvard University–Royal College of Surgeons (Dublin).
